On the way to the “Cedars of God” above the Village of Bcharre, there is a little stone chapel on the right side of the road with a pull off leading to it. This will lead you down an unpaved road, the arched stone Chapel structure with a large white cross on top and a small altar in the Center. The structure is open on all 4 sides. From this vantage point, you can have a fantastic 360 degree view of Kornet El Sawda (Lebanon’s highest Peak), the “Cedars of God” and a magnificent view down into the Kadisha Valley.
Wadi Kadisha (Kadisha Valley) is a gorge that lies within the Bcharre and Zgharta Districts of the North Governorate of Lebanon. Kadisha means "Holy" in Aramaic, and the valley is sometimes called the Holy Valley. It has sheltered Christian monasteries for many centuries. The drive up to the Cedars area affords a good view of these monasteries built into the rock
I took this portrait format image of the Chapel with the tall mountains behind it (altitude over 3,000 meters above sea level) from the side of the main road leading up to the Cedars. It is a gorgeous place from which to watch the sunset or to watch the humid cooler Valley air rise up as the sun warms up the area.
This art print would be lovely in a residential setting, an office or a commercial space and would make a perfect gift for a religious person, a lover of Lebanon and the Middle East. It can be printed up to 20”x24” and would look great on either paper or metal.
