This balloon was my all time favorite balloon at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It conjures up all kinds of memories of my long nights and days in architecture school in the late seventies. You knew that when this Pink Floyd music went on, out came the marijuana joints on the other side of the studio, a whiff of smoke that soon permeated the entire room. It generally meant it was 2am!
The balloon Fiesta takes place on the grounds of the Balloon Fiesta Park which is north of the City right off I-25 which is the main highway leading to Santa Fe. The park is located in an urban field surrounded by buildings, highways, industry and power lines. This is probably not what you imagined (I know the location was a little let down for me) but is convenient right off the highway.
This color portrait format photograph was taken handheld and shot in the early morning hours, before sunrise. The sky was overcast and the winds not really cooperating for the mass liftoff of 500 balloons.
This photograph would be a wonderful addition on a Dad’s (or Mom’s) memory wall and makes a great gift. I am a big lover of Pink Floyd's music myself. This wall art would look great on any of our mediums but would work especially well as a metal photography print or acrylic print as the vivid colors would pop on acrylic. This art print can be enlarged up to 30”x40.”
